Two Weeks With Rowena

I started my 100 day dress challenge and so far have found it to be a simple habit. I admit I’m not generally very adventurous in my fashion and mostly stick to a different cardigan over the dress and leggings underneath. Simplicity. It has been a little over fourteen days and I have washed the dress once so far, not because it developed an odor or anything, but there was spot cleaning necessary after cooking so I just washed the whole dress. The upkeep is minimal for this dress. I wear it. At the end of the day, I take it off, shake it out, and hang it up. If it’s been a super staticky day I will spritz it with some water while it hangs overnight. We’ve had weather that was warmish for February and I was still very comfortable wearing the dress, now it’s snowing and I’m still comfortable with just a sweater over it. I’ve only one complaint so far and I’ve taken a few steps to correct it. Static. It is the bane of my existence in this dress. A trip to the local Walmart for groceries probably convinced the community that I had…issues. The dress was stuck to my leggings. Despite my feverish application of lotion on my hands which I then tried to casually apply to the underside of the dress to combat the static, nothing helped. Once I finished the dress tugging, pocket floofing adventure, I turned to the internet to find methods for fighting static. I now sport four safety pins, two under the pockets and two under the hem of the dress to help. Does it work? For the most part, yes. Is it perfect, no. There is still some static that I believe is a product of natural versus man made fabrics just not being overly compatible as well as a dry atmosphere. Oh well. For now, I’m happily comfortable in my Rowena and I’m looking forward to maybe trying a few more styling ideas as the challenge progresses.

The cat is an essential accessory. She is my constant shadow and companion, and yes, those leggings are my favorite. They earned an unfortunate nickname thanks to my teenage daughter who calls them my Beetlejuice leggings, perhaps I should find a few more!
